Update 5/28

Yesterday evening, May 28, the Wayne County Public Health Division announced the extension of the closure of pools and swim clubs, both public and private.  A link to the order is below:

To summarize, the order does not allow for pools, such as ours, to receive the permit necessary to open at this time.  The good news is that they have not closed pools for the entire summer  The bad news is we are still in a holding pattern, without a timetable to open or any guidelines to do so once permitted.  We have been in contact with Ted Davis, the Pool and Recreation Department Director for Livonia and he has no additional insight or information as this time.  We continue to hope to be able to open this summer and will wait for additional guidance or orders to come forward.

Dear Members:

As I am sure most of you are aware that, last Friday, the Governor extended the COVID-19 ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’ order until June 12th.  Additionally, the Governor has loosened some restrictions such as enabling people to gather in a group of 10 while practicing proper social distancing compliance.

For the weekend of May 29th – 31st, the Work Bees are still scheduled per the sign-up genius (weather permitting).  Another Work Bee Weekend is currently being planned weekend of June 5th-7th (details will be forthcoming).  Tentatively, the Board will now be focusing on opening the Ground to our Members only beginning on June 13th.

As communicated previously, additional opportunities will be provided to participate in Work Bee Activities throughout the season.  If you would like to volunteer to perform tasks during the extended ‘stay home’ order, please contact the President at president@burtonhollowswim.com and we will try to accommodate your schedules.

In addition to the unexpected extension of the ‘Stay Home’ order, the Board would like you to know that for the past weeks we have been in contact with the City of Livonia Parks Division Supervisor as to how to open our pools.  Last Thursday, the Supervisor contacted us and stated that they expected to receive the guidelines from Wayne County last Friday and would forward those guidelines to BHSC.  Those guidelines were not provided to us; all the Swim Clubs in the City of Livonia are waiting for those guidelines in order to open their pools to their Members.

As the Board previously stated, upon completion of the Work Bees, the pool will open as soon as possible predicated on compliance with Federal, State and Local procedures that will be put into effect for the upcoming season; for the health and safety of the Membership, out families, friends and guests. Tentatively, The Board is focusing on opening the Grounds to our Members only beginning on Saturday, June 13th at 12;00pm, practicing social distancing and compliance with State and CDC standards.

The dedicated Staff at BHSC is ready to work and will do their best to help you start to enjoy your summer.  The Board will let you know when we have decided how best to open, but one thing is certain – we will be relying on the patience and diligence of you, the Members, to help keep the Staff, you, and your families safe by following the rules set forth by the State of Michigan and the CDC.

If you have any questions, suggestions or would like to arrange a Work Bee task and time, please feel free to send an email to me and I will contact you as soon as possible.

With your help, the Board is looking forward to opening the Club to help bring back a sense of normalcy to the Members at BHSC.

Sincerely,

Brian Olech

President BHSC
