The Board once again extends a warm welcome to you and shares in your anticipation of the opening of the 2022 Season. Greetings Burton Hollow members and families. Opening day is only 3 months away!
Listed below are a number of items related to Club policies, procedures, and operations. Please take time to review this material and take extra care to
note the important dates and deadlines.
Board of Directors
On behalf of the general membership, the Board would like to thank Brian Olech and Barbara McKenzie for all of the time and effort they put forth during their service on the Club Board. They possess a wealth of knowledge and much wisdom on how to properly maintain our special place that we call the Burton Hollow Swim and Racquet Club and will be missed. A special thank you also goes out to their families as well for sharing them with us over the past years. We would also like to welcome our new Board Member – Toni O’Connor.

Please mark your calendars for the 2022 Work Bees. As you know, the “Work Bees” allow our members to earn the return of their $100.00 assessment by supplying four (4) hours of adult labor (14 years or older). Each membership is allowed only one (1) “Work Bee Refund” for the year. The Board requests that members whose children require supervision not accompany their parents to the “Work Bee.” This year the “Work Bees” are scheduled for three weekends: Saturday, April 30th, Saturday, May 7th, Sunday, May 8th, Saturday, May 14th, and Sunday, May 15th. Please check the website for any work bee updates.
There will be two shifts on Saturdays and members are to choose one. The first work bee shift will begin at 9:00 AM and end no later than 1:00 PM. The second shift will begin at 1:00 PM and end at 5:00 PM. Sundays will just be the morning shift. Members are asked to choose one shift and work that time period. Workers are not permitted to split up the sessions. Please arrive on time in order to work the entire shift. Members should come in appropriate work clothing, and bringing personal tools to use during their sessions (rakes, shovels, power tools, hardware, etc.) is always appreciated.
The Club has been proceeding with the improvements this past winter and spring. The following have been done:
* Installed Main Pump Surge Protector with phased monitoring controls and safety voltage relay to turn motor off and on during power loss
* Installed another 300-gallon storage tank (BHSC will have 600-gallons of liquid chlorine so that a backup plan is no longer necessary)
* Purchased a new motor for pump room with a one (1) year warranty to match the one (1) year warranty of the surge protector. Our current motor would be sent to the factory to be reworked and stored in the kiddie pool shed as a backup to keep our pool running smoothly.
* Purchased ten (10) commercial strapped chairs and ten (10) commercial strapped Chaise lounges for members to use
* Purchased new blue rope that will be installed in the spring of 2022 replacing the worn-out rope currently in place
* Repaired main service ground in club’s pump room
As we all experienced last year, there is a shortage of workers. This has had a major impact on how we enjoy our BHSC. To address this issue, the board has increased the wages at BHSC to be competitive with other swim clubs and the local Recreation center. In order to be able to afford this raise increase, the board has decided to make the following changes:
* All guest fees have been increased to $6.00
* Increase Swim lessons from $40.00 to $50.00
* Increase concession fees
The board will also be looking to increase dues for the 2023 season at the next general meeting.
The Club is still planning to open on Friday, May 27th at 12:00 p.m. (staff and weather permitting) and will be open through Labor Day (Monday, September 5th). The Board has decided that when school is in session, during the week, the hours will be 4:00 pm-8:00 pm and 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm on the weekends.
When school is out for the summer, the Club will be scheduled to be open from 12:00 pm-10:00 pm during the week and on the weekends.
During the season, the hours may change depending on Social Events, Swim Meets, weather, and pool conditions. Please call the Club at 734-591-1767 or check the Club’s website if you have questions about the hours of operation.
A ‘New Members’ meeting is scheduled for Saturday, May 28th at 10:00 a.m. All new members are invited to attend. The meeting will provide valuable information regarding the Club and provide an opportunity for new members to ask questions and meet the Board Members and Staff.
Membership Forms/Front Desk Check-In
Computerized check-in procedures will again be used for all members through membersplash. This process will ensure that the use of the club is restricted to paid members only. You do not have to update anything unless you are adding or removing an associate member to your account.
Guest fees will be collected at the front desk upon arrival or can be prepaid through membersplash. Guests of the Club will be asked to wear a wristband when using the Club facilities, as has been the policy in the past. All guests will have to fill out our insurance waiver once per summer online. We ask that you have your guests fill it out prior to coming to the club to help avoid unnecessary traffic at the front gate.

Once again, the Burton Hollow Dolphins Swim Team will compete this summer in the Summer Independent Swim League. There is a letter as part of this email from Dan Henry with all of the swim team information. Please check the website for more information and important dates as well.
Swim lessons will be offered for the children of members and waitlist customers. The cost is $50.00 per child for each two (2) week session, payable by check before the first lesson begins. The swim lesson calendar, times, and levels will be updated on our website as we get closer to the opening of the season.
The board is working on putting together a standard operating procedure, or SOP, for the club. The SOP will define all the roles of those who work and enjoy the Club. We feel like this has always been in place, but we felt the need to have it written down. It will be placed on the website when finished. As always, feedback from the membership will be appreciated and considered.
