Hello BHSC Members:
The Board once again wishes you a heartfelt anticipation of our upcoming opening season. To our new members, we say WELCOME to Burton Hollow. To our experienced members we say, WELCOME BACK. As we approach this year's season we have many exciting things in store to help make Burton Hollow “The Best Livonia Swim Club!” Listed below are a number of Club Policies, procedures and operations. Please take time to familiarize yourself with them to insure your best enjoyment of your club membership. Important dates and deadlines are included.
Board of Directors
On behalf of the general membership, the Board would like to thank the outgoing board members and their families for their service. We would also like to welcome and thank our new elected Board Members - Allison Kava who would be handling our Social, Dan Buday who will be handling our Grounds, and Tony Villella who will be handling our Pool and Building. Of course we want to welcome back our returning Board Members - Andrea Ricotta - Treasurer, Christy Krawczyk - Secretary, Dan Henry - Recreation & Swim Team, Toni O’Connor - Membership, Kristie Jonca - Vice President, and Jim Mariani - President.
As we approach opening for another great season, we must ask that as many members as possible take advantage of your Work Bee opportunities to get your $100.00 Work Bee refund. Dan Buday, our new Grounds Board Member will be offering multiple opportunities and unique options to make this happen. Burton Hollow has the opportunity of hosting the 2023 SISL League Meet and we want to take that opportunity to showcase our club and grounds to all those who attend!
We are excited and proud to now have this as a new benefit to our club members. As voted on by the general membership last year, 25 empty-nest memberships were approved for sale to members that have over 20 years as members in good standing. All 25 memberships applied and were secured for this year. Congratulations to those who received this benefit.
The Club continues to proceed with as many improvements as budgets allow, as we all own the same share of our club. We ask that if you have any special skills, talents, or gifts, please share them with the BHSC Board. The BHSC Board is always seeking to utilize the skills, talents, and gifts from our members instead of outsourcing those services. If you have any of the following skills: technology, construction, management, landscaping maintenance, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc. please reach out to the BHSC Board.
A BIG THANK YOU goes out to our Club Manager Melissa Flannigan, as she continues to work diligently securing our previous staff, as well as adding new qualified lifeguards to our team. This can be a daunting task to keep reliable, qualified, and proper employees for a 3-month summer season.
The Club is slated to open on Friday, May 26th at 12:00pm (weather permitting) and will be open through Labor Day, Monday, September 4th. As in the previous year, when school is in session during the week, the club hours will be 4:00pm-8:00pm and 12:00pm-10:00pm on weekends. When school is out for the summer, the club will be scheduled to be open from 12:00pm- 10:00pm during the week and on weekends. During the season, the hours may vary depending on social events, swim meets, and especially during League Meet. Attached you will find further information about our hosting of this year’s League Meet. A HUGE Thanks to Rhonda Henry for the League Meet leadership this year!
Membership Forms/Front Desk Check-In
Computerized check-in procedures will again be used for all members through membersplash. This process will ensure the use of the club is restricted to paid members only. You do not have to update anything unless you are adding or removing an associate member to your account. Guest fees will be collected at the front desk upon arrival or can be prepaid through MemberSplash. Guests of the club will be required to wear a wristband when using club facilities, as was the past policy. All guests will have to fill out our insurance waiver once per summer online. We ask that you have your guests fill the waiver out prior to entering the club to avoid a back-up at the front desk.
Once again, the BURTON HOLLOW DOLPHINS SWIM TEAM will compete in the Summer Independent Swim League. There is a letter as part of this email, along with League Meet details and opportunities from Dan Henry with all of the swim team and League Meet information. Please check our website for more important dates and information. League Meet is Saturday, July 29, please save the date. Also, we would love to welcome Marla Kepsel as our new Head Swim Coach. Marla brings incredible experience, leadership, and fantastic ideas to improve our Swim Team and entire swimming program.
Swim lessons will be offered for children of members and those that are on our waitlist. The cost is $60.00 per child for each two week session, payable by check, or venmo prior to the first session lesson begins. The swim lesson calendar, times, and levels will be updated on our website as we get closer to the opening of the season. We are looking to better integrate our swim lessons and swim team; making them a more cohesive program moving forward. More details to follow.
Standard Operating Procedures
Our Standard Operating Procedures are posted to our website and will also be posted throughout the club. We ask that the procedures be adhered to.
Final Thoughts from the Board
Please take to heart that we All own the same percentage of our club. Having said this we ask that everyone take their ownership seriously and respect the fellow owners, guests, grounds, staff, and equipment as your own. Afterall, it is yours.
Sincerest Thanks and Gratitude,
